Benson, has forty plus years of forming experience and is the author of “Press Brake Technology, a guide to precision sheet metal bending” © 1997 (Society of Manufacturing Engineers). The Programmer of ASMA 6.0.1 Windows NT and Windows 8. A software application designed to complement “The Art Press Brake”.

A current member of the Fabricators and Manufactures Association’s (FMA); twice past chair of the Precision Sheet Metal Advisory Council of the FMA and a Senior Member of The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME).

Beginning his career at the Oregon Advanced Technology Consortium (OATC) in Wilsonville, Oregon and is the sole proprietor of Asma LLC in Salem, Oregon. Mr. Benson has at the time of this publication, over 100 published trade related articles in magazines like The International Sheet Metal Review (ISMR), TheFabricator.com, The Fabricator and Forming & Fabricating. He currently writes a monthly column in The Fabricator magazine entitled Bending basics and the author / presenter of FMA’s press brake certificate program and in-house training programs; written eight textbooks in total and produced twenty four full length educational videos many of which are included here.

Besides teaching his highly rated training program to many of North America’s premier companies, he also teaches classes to both the U.S. Army and Navy. He has been a featured inductee in Who’sWho in America since 1998. He also holds degrees in Drafting and robotic forming. Mr. Benson is also the past Secretary / Treasurer and founding member of Bike PAC of Oregon Inc. a 501c3 non – profit and Secretary / Treasurer of BikePAC of Oregon Inc. the Political Action Committee. He was raised a Master Mason 7/15/00 , Past Master of Salem Lodge #4 AFAM in Salem, Oregon and is a 32° practicing Scottish Rite Freemason. Mr. Benson has been awarded the following: “Freedom is more than a word” BikePAC of Oregon. The 1999 “Educational Award” (FMA), The “Best technical articles of the year 2001”, FMA and Croydon Group publishers, and the Legends of BikePAC award for 13 years of service.
